About Marshall
Marshall Robinson is a freelance illustrator, specializing in adversting and commercial images. His work has appeared on Pepsi cans, numberous magazines, book covers and of course on the shelves of countless grocery stores.
One of Marshall's favourite mediums
is pencil crayons. He uses quality pencil crayons on coloured art paper, choosing the colour of the paper
that will most closely match the background colour to be used. After roughing out the design,
he then applies the colours in layers, finishing with a white or other colour as highlights.
The example shown here is a thought provoking piece of art that was done to commemorate
Marshall's grandfather, who served his country and family with honour and valor.
Upon reviewing his finished work, it is amazing to see the fine degree of detail Marshall is able
to obtain in this medium. His illustrations are both striking and realistic. Marshall's work with this medium has been used in a number of different ways, including original art
and book covers.
Marshall is a big music fan, and has founded the Toggles, a British Invasion cover band. The
Beatles still hold the #1 spot on Marshall's billboard.
Two examples of the detail and realistic possibilities in the air brush medium... the classic Honda Prelude of years gone by, and a corporate graphic that was developed for a trade
show booth and later was used as a logo by the City of Cornwall.
Marshall's
talents have been used in marketing applications,such as the packaging of consumer goods. Reward
launched its popular line of dog snacks using the time honoured tactic of employing an animal
spokesman for its product. The cartoon dog that Marshall created is both friendly and inviting, creating a positive image for the product.
When Sealtest repositioned itself in the frozen treats category, it introduced a line of products under the new Polar brand name, which featured new packaging and a new mascot. Different products and flavours feature the same bear in different poses and headgear, and reaction was so positive that Sealtest has extended the use of the mascot into merchandising and contests.
